Ganeshji and Laxmiji in Aragonite

An incredibly special piece for Ma Passion, this carving depicting Laxmiji and Ganeshji is the only creation in Aragonite that remains in our collection. The rough stone of Aragonite – mined only in Argentina – is no longer available in any wholesale market, making it impossible to procure. The carving is made by one of our oldest artists who has been trained in the ancient art of ivory carving and so, the figures of the two Gods are made in a traditional South Indian form. Painstakingly hollowed out, this creation characterized by its exquisite hues of orange and white, is the epitome of ancient aristocratic Indian art.
